Same-Sex Adoption
Okay so here's the situation, ever since the Supreme Court ruling that finally allowed same-sex couples to get married in EVERY state (that includes you Texas), people throughout the country have been trying everything they can think of to deny people these rights. For example, in an article I read recently (to read it yourself click here Religious Freedom and Gay Rights), an adoption agency was refusing to allow a gay couple to adopt a child. Not only are they refusing, but some states are creating laws that will allow people to deny helping gay people, because of their religious beliefs. For example, North Carolina passed a law in June that excuses magistrates, state officials, and registers of deeds from performing or recording marriages with which the official disagrees on religious grounds.
As a gay woman, I obviously believe that gay people should be allowed to adopt children not only because they cannot conceive a child on their own (although they may be able to in the near future, but we'll get to that another time), but because there are so many children in this world today who do not have a home, or a family. If they don't have a problem living with gay parents, then why should the adoption agencies?
I completely agree with you. As an ally, I fully support gay couples being able to adopt and it just sickens me to think there are so many kids out there without parents and so many gay couples without kids. One would think society would see the two parties without the other and see that it's a perfect match but sadly, we are not evolved enough for that I guess :/
