"Fighting Homophobia One Song at a Time"

Alright homophobes, you've officially taken it too far.

An anti-gay petition recently received more than 20,000 signatures, in an attempt to keep singer, Adam Lambert, from performing in Singapore on New Year's Eve.

"We urge the organisers of Countdown 2016 to recognise and respect the values of the majority of Singapore that has voiced its desire to preserve our nations's fiber," the petition states.

"Allowing Adam Lambert to perform as the star of Countdown 2016 shows disregard for the values of a majority of family-centric Singaporeans who have consistently resisted the promotion of western liberal ideas about family values and societal models."

The petition also makes reference to Lambert's 2009 American Music Awards performance, and some of his music videos in which he kisses other men, and claims they are "lewd acts."

Okay, fine. The 2009 performance was a little racy, but that's who Adam Lambert is! He is a proud, gay performer, and ain't nobody gonna tell him what he can and can't do!

But, this petition did not go without resistance, because Adam Lambert fans are some feisty people, and nobody messes with him. An opposing petition was immediately created, receiving over 4,000 more signatures than the initial petition.

"We the moral majority of Singapore utterly denounce and condemn the obvious sexual orientation discrimination demonstrated by the other petition on this site that is against Adam Lambert performing in Countdown 2016."

Adam will still be performing on New Year's Eve, and he refuses to let the petition get to him.

You just keep on trucking Adam. We love you!

  1. Aside from the awesome images here - as usual - this post is really compelling because it speaks about a person who is a part of the LGBT community who is using his music and his fame in order to be himself - which in turn speaks out against those who hate and discriminate. Got to love pop culture!
