Singer, songwriter, record producer, painter, and actor, David Bowie died on Sunday January 10 after suffering from cancer.
Since his death, a large number of people from the LGBT community have shared their stories on how David Bowie helped them. They looked up to him, and admired how he brought queer culture into the mainstream.
David Bowie showed this queer kid from Baton Rouge that gender outlaws are cool. Androgyny=rock&roll, not a reason to kill myself #bowieRIP— OfficialMaryGauthier (@marygauthier_) Jan. 11, 2016
As a young little queer boy struggling to fit in #DavidBowie showed me that "just fitting in" wasn't the only option. He was an inspiration.

The world will greatly miss David Bowie.
R.I.P
I think it´s so cute that this people did that. My dad really liked him. he told me that David Bowie was a legend.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great mini tribute to his life!I was curious if he also was gay or part of the LGBTQ community or just supported them and believed in their rights?
ReplyDeleteThere's actually a lot of confusion about his sexuality. The title of the article I read about him was actually called, "Was He Gay, Bisexual, or Bowie? Yes." He did openly say that he was gay at some point, but he did also have a wife earlier in his life. So the world is a little confused about that one.
